The American Society of Anesthesiologists is an educational, research and scientific association of physicians organized to raise and maintain the standards of the medical practice of anesthesiology and improve the care of the patient.

The New England Society of Anesthesiologists is a professional society of medical doctors who seek to advance the art and science of anesthesiology through education. The primary educational emphasis is the Society's Annual Conference, held each year in September at a popular New England location.

Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) participation is another benefit of ASA membership. Their registry has over 5 million cases. For your information, here is a link to their Member Benefits page www.aqihq.org/become-a-member.aspx. In addition, AQI has an Anesthesia Incident Reporting System (AIRS) -- first launched at Anesthesiology in 2011. AIRS is a national registry for reporting untoward events. Reports can be submitted to aqiairs.org.

The Journal of Maine Medical Center (JMMC) was founded by the Department of Medical Education, Maine Medical Center, in 2018. It is an open-access journal devoted to supporting the academic mission through the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly work.  Areas of focus include health care innovation, interprofessional healthcare and education, rural medicine, and professional engagement and development.
